Getting started
How do I build my first plan?
Open the app and you land on an empty grid with nine slots: three tops, three bottoms, three layers. Tap a slot, take a photo of the item or pick one from your library, and repeat. When all nine are filled, your outfits are generated automatically. No sign up, no email, no setup screen.
Do I need an account?
No. The free version needs nothing from you. Accounts exist only so subscribers can back up their plans and restore them on a new phone. If you never subscribe, you will never be asked to sign up.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet, and there is no date. The app is iOS first. If you want one, email us and say so. It genuinely affects what gets built.
The packing method
How do I pick nine pieces that actually work together?
Pick a palette first, then pick pieces. Two or three neutrals plus one accent colour is the usual formula. Then check the honest question for every item: does this go with all three bottoms, or all three tops? If the answer is no, swap it. One piece that only works with one other piece costs you nine outfits.
What if my trip needs more than nine items?
Bring more. The grid is for the pieces you are mixing and matching, not your whole suitcase. Underwear, socks, swimwear, pyjamas and gym kit sit outside the grid and are not meant to go in it.
Can I add shoes and accessories?
Yes, with a Premium subscription. A fourth row for shoes and extras multiplies the grid out to as many as 81 looks. The base grid stays three by three.
Can I have more than one plan?
The free tier keeps one plan at a time. Premium lets you keep several, so a summer grid and a ski grid can live side by side, and you can duplicate an existing plan as a starting point instead of rebuilding it.
Photos and permissions
Where do my photos go?
Onto your phone, in the app's private storage. On the free tier they never leave the device. Subscribers with an account can turn on cloud backup so plans and photos can be restored on a new phone. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
The app cannot see my camera or photo library.
Go to iOS Settings → SudokuPacking and turn on Camera and Photos. If Photos is set to "Selected Photos", either add the images you want or switch to full access. Restart the app afterwards.
My item photos look cropped or badly framed.
Grid tiles are a portrait shape, so shoot the item vertically, flat on a plain surface, in even light. Photographing on a white bed or a wooden floor works well. Avoid strong shadows across the item.
How do I replace or remove an item?
Tap the tile in the grid and choose to replace or clear it. Your outfit set regenerates on the spot, and favourites that no longer make sense are updated with it.
Subscriptions and billing
What does Premium include?
Multiple saved plans, the full outfit set rather than a preview, the shoes and accessories row, plan duplication, and clean exports without a watermark. The current price and the exact list are shown in the app before you buy.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so cancel through Apple: iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → SudokuPacking → Cancel Subscription. Do it at least 24 hours before your renewal date. Premium stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all refunds for App Store purchases. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com using the Apple ID that made the purchase. We have no ability to issue or reverse a charge. If Apple turns you down and you think something went wrong on our side, email us and we will help you make the case.
I paid but Premium is not unlocked.
Open the account screen in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID that made the purchase. If it still does not unlock, email us with the date of purchase and we will sort it out.
I changed phones. How do I get my subscription back?
Sign into the same Apple ID, install the app, and tap Restore Purchases. Your entitlement follows your Apple ID. Your plans and photos follow your SudokuPacking account, so sign in with the same email to bring those back too.
Your data and account
How do I delete my data?
If you never made an account, deleting the app removes everything, permanently. If you have an account, use the delete account option in the account screen, or email contact@sudokupacking.com from your account address. We remove your profile, plans and stored photos within 30 days and confirm when it is done.
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel through Apple separately, or billing continues.
Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Email us from your account address and ask for an export. We will send your plan data in a machine readable format and your stored photos.
I lost my plan when I reinstalled the app.
On the free tier, plans live only on the device, so reinstalling deletes them and we cannot recover them. This is the main reason cloud backup exists. If you had an account with backup on, sign in with the same email and your plan should restore. If it does not, email us before you rebuild anything.
Troubleshooting
My outfits are not generating.
All nine slots need a real item. An empty slot in any row stops the combinations from being generated. Check each of the three rows, then force quit the app and reopen it.
The app is slow or crashes when adding photos.
Usually a memory issue on older devices with very large images. Force quit other apps, make sure iOS and the app are up to date, and restart the phone. If it keeps happening, email us with your device model and iOS version.
My sign in code never arrived.
Check spam and promotions. Codes expire, so if a few minutes have passed, request a new one. Make sure the address has no typo. If nothing comes through after two tries, email us from that address and we will look into it.
Sharing an outfit card does nothing.
The card is rendered on your device before the share sheet opens, which takes a moment on older phones. If the sheet never appears, force quit and reopen the app, then try again with the app in the foreground.
Report a bug or request a feature
Email contact@sudokupacking.com. To get a fix faster, include:
- What you did, step by step
- What you expected, and what happened instead
- Your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About)
- The app version (shown on the account screen)
- A screenshot or screen recording if you can
Feature requests are welcome and read. SudokuPacking is small and early, so what people ask for genuinely shapes what gets built next.
Accessibility. If something in the app is hard to use with VoiceOver, larger text or reduced motion, tell us. We treat those reports as bugs, not as requests.
